My July 2010 Burda Picks

28 June 2010 4 Comments

I’m always excited when my Burda magazine arrives every month, but lately, I haven’t really been feeling inspired by the designs. My issue arrived today and I’m still feeling lukewarm about it. I won’t bother posting the foolywag designs because that’s already been done and I’m ready to shut it down for the night. Besides, the bejeweled vest and awful harem-inspired cropped sweatpants don’t deserve any more attention.  Here are my picks from the July 2010 magazine:

This tank top is super cute!

I like it better than the dress below, but both have a lot of potential.

Despite the hype, I’m on the fence about this dress. It’s definitely cute, but the fabric draped diagonally across the front sort of reminds me of a pageant sash. Am I the only one who sees this? :)

I really like these pants, although I’m not sure if the cuffs would flatter my 5 ‘2 frame. What do you think?

Should petite women avoid pants with cuffs?

I think you would look supercute in the top.
the cuffs would look cute with heels :-)

Thanks! Yes, I think heels are necessary. I made a pair of pants with cuffs that make me look short. I think it’s because they have wide legs.

hi juat thought i’d add thats i’ve recently giot back into sewing with a vengence lol. theres not many fabric shops here so i’ve been idle for years, on a recent trip to england i found an amazing fabric shop so bought loads.my polish friend brought me in a load of her burda mags nd after much trial and errer i can now trace and have made some lovely dresses. the july 2010 issue is my fave, i’m trying to get it in english now. i made the white grecian dress in turquoise and its stunning, the sash was way to long and hung below the hem and it was just above the knee so i adjusted it to fit. i now know where to buy the mags from so i’m happy plus i bought 30 from the 80’s and 90’s and it was like xmas opening them. there ws a pttern i could use in all of them from interesting backs to stunning dresses, fashion never dates, happy sewing mary x

Hi Mary. Thanks for commenting. I just renewed my Burda subscription. Where did you find the back issues? That sounds like a dream! :)
