Simplicity 2406: Cynthia Rowley Dress

I am happy that my sewing slump is officially over. I finished this dress earlier in the week, but I was too busy tweaking my blog design to post it. Enjoy!

I Went Banana’s on E-bay and Won Diane Von Furstenberg’s Vintage Wrap Dress Pattern for my Birthday….Yes, Vogue 1549!!! (The One With the Cuffs and Collar :)

I am extremely excited that I won the auction last night and my Diane Von Furstenberg classic wrap dress vintage pattern (circa 1973) is on its way! I love wrap dresses and have had my eye on this pattern for a long time, so I was super excited to find it in my size and in uncut condition just in time for my birthday. Whoo hoo! I’m not sure who was bidding against me, but I’m really sorry you wasted your time because this pattern was destined to be MINE MINE MINE …

In Other Random News: Cheap Feline Thrills

Happy Friday!
This is a quick post to share a random photo of my spoiled senior kitty having the time of her life playing inside of a brown paper bag sprinkled with catnip. That alone was enough excitement to send her into an asthma attack, but I sealed the deal by tossing in a handmade aluminum foil ball made by yours truly. I’ve been trying to find creative ways to keep my arthritic cat entertained in her golden years.  I haven’t seen my Glamourpuss have this much fun in one sitting …

Fall Vogue Faves

I’m always excited whenever the new Vogue patterns are released, but I’m feeling somewhat underwhelmed with the selection this time around. Don’t get me wrong–there are quite a few cute patterns, but I’m not overly excited about making any of them. I’m in a sewing slump, so I guess that explains my lack of enthusiasm. Here are my favorites:
I love the drape on this Michael Kors dress!

I’m having déjà vu, but this is a cute basic sheath dress by Anne Klein New York (not that I need any new sheath …

More Vintage Patterns

I spent most of the afternoon hunting for vintage sewing patterns. At one location that shall not be named because I selfishly want to keep all of the patterns to myself, I stumbled across a gold mine of vintage patterns stuffed haphazardly into several clear plastic bags.
I couldn’t resit the urge to find out what was inside before I purchased anything, so I attempted to discreetly open the bags.  At one point, the security guard walked by and just shook his head…lol.  I put a good number of ugly patterns …

2010 Sewing Goals Revisited

In January, I created a very ambitious list of sewing goals and resolutions that focused on building specific skills instead of sewing random garments. Unfortunately, I’ve had a very busy year so far and I’ve fallen behind. Since the year is half-way over, I figured this would be a good time to revisit and revise my goals.
Goal: By the end of the year, I will be able to create high quality garments that fit without using commercial patterns.
I am definitely still working on this one! lol

1) Finish 2009 sewing …
