I am finally posting a new sewing pattern review! I recently finished sewing a black wool coat that I began over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2009. I got frustrated with the project initially and decided to revisit it again when I went home for Thanksgiving in November.
MISSES’ LINED COATS: Fitted across bust coats have empire waist, princess seams with pleated lower section, side seam pockets and sleeve variations; coats are above mid-knee length. The pattern is out of print.
I made a size 12 (View A)
Did it look …

Even though I wrote in my last post a few minutes ago (about the vintage wrap dress I am working on) that I was going to bed, I had the 70’s on my mind, so I decided to hop on Etsy for a quick peek at the latest vintage patterns before hitting the sack. I really liked this cute McCalls top/dress pattern, so I snatched it up.
I think the maxi dress will look cute when I rock my natural hair in a big curly ‘fro. I’m thinking about altering the …

I am currently working on a great 1970’s vintage wrap dress (Simplicity 7705). This pattern is a knock-off of the classic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, so I am eager to see how it turns out.
I bought the pattern when I was searching for the DVF Vogue 1549 pattern. Actually, I bought two patterns because I am out of control obsessive when it comes to patterns. I bought the first one on Ebay and then I bought another one shortly thereafter on Etsy (it was uncut and the price was …
I’m so excited to tell you about my Christmas gift to myself: a new professional dress form! I finally decided to replace my pitiful duct tape form with a fancy professional dress form so I can finally learn how to drape. Even though it took an entire day to make it, I’ve never used the duct tape form because she lost her shape and couldn’t remain upright without falling over. After the duct tape drama, I decided that I wanted a form that could be easily adjusted if I gain …

If you’re a seamstress living in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area, you’ve probably shopped at G-Street Fabrics. Consider yourself very fortunate!
I had the opportunity to visit G-Street Fabric Store in Rockville, MD during my recent trip home to visit my parents over the Thanksgiving holiday. Even though I remember visiting the fabric store with my mother while I was growing up, I didn’t appreciate how fabulous this sewing paradise is until I learned how to sew as an adult. Since the fabric selection in Atlanta is primarily limited to Hancock Fabrics, Joann …

I’ve been looking forward to the new Spring Vogues and it was definitely worth the wait this time. Here are my favorites:
I love this Donna Karan dress! I’m envisioning this in a pretty eggplant color.
This DKNY dress is pretty cute, too, although it sort of reminds me of a bridesmaid dress. Perhaps it’s the taffeta fabric. I wonder how this would look in linen. Thoughts?
I would love to sew this Anne Klein dress! The lines are really pretty, but I think I would avoid using a print fabric to avoid …

Happy New Year! I really can’t believe that it’s been *cough* four a few months since I updated my blog. lol. Wow. I have been a very busy woman in 2010, and I haven’t had as much time to update my blog as I would have liked. However, I will try not to feel guilty about not posting every little thing I’ve done or purchased in my blog. This is supposed to be fun! (not an obligation :). With that said, I am sincerely committed to making more time to …
